History

Interfaith began with a concerned group of people consisting of clergy, social service agency directors and other interested
persons who formed the Interfaith Council, a non-profit charitable organization.

This effort originated in February, 1982, when a Church Women United Committee was appointed to investigate ways to meet
the needs of the increasing number of people requiring emergency food and shelter.  It was apparent that many were falling
through the cracks of the existing system for emergency need.

Casper ministers, social service agency directors and interested persons met in a workshop sponsored by Church Women
United.  Many different approaches to the problem were considered.  It was decided to concentrate efforts on a central
clearing house and transitional housing for families.  Interfaith began serving persons needing basic needs emergency
assistance in October, 1984.  The first family went into transitional housing in November, 1984.

Interfaith has evolved into an organization whose primary focus is homelessness prevention through a broad range of
emergency services and a case management program that promotes self-sufficiency.
Financial Support

In the beginning Interfaith was supported only by churches and local donors.  We have evolved into an agency that now receives
funding from a variety of sources.  Some of these include:

  • United Way of Natrona County
  • FEMA
  • McMurry Foundation
  • Daniels Foundation
  • HUD
  • Martin Family Foundation
  • Community Services Block Grant
  • Wyoming Community Foundation
  • Local churches and private donors remain an important support system for the agency

We extend much gratitude to everyone who believes in what Interfaith does and to those who support us financially and volunteer their
time to provide our services.

Donations of any size are accepted.  A $10 donation pays for a birth certificate, photo I.D., or gasoline to get to a newly acquired job.

Interfaith also accepts personal care and cleaning products to augment items donated by several local churches.

If you would like to donate to Interfaith, please mail your monetary donations to Interfaith of Natrona County, 1514 E. 12th St., #303,
Casper, Wyoming, 82601.  If you are interested in donating personal care or cleaning items, please call our office at 235-8043.
